Who we are

Taking up arms and joining the Quest is optional.  But, if you are courageous enough to stay, welcome to a realm where courage, persistence, and authenticity matter.  This community will be a gathering place for us to share wisdom and collaborate on both law and life: practical hacks for our craft and what it means to live with purpose.  In other words, how to be better lawyers and how to be better people; how to embrace your inner dragon slayer – in law, in life, in spirit.

Recognizing that life and law is hard – especially when combined together.   Here we acknowledge the struggles, celebrate the victories, and support each other with valor and compassion.  We know that courage means nothing unless you have fear, persistence is meaningless without struggle, that victory is hollow without the prospect and reality of defeat.  This will be a community where we can be real, and we can be supportive, and we can be heroic. If you dig my metaphors on valor, heroism and kindness, all wrapped in medieval knights, game of thrones, and slaying dragons, this is a place for you.  There will be four ideals that I borrowed from my favorite fantasy writer, Brandon Sanderson in the Stormlight Archive:

  • The First Ideal. “Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination.”

  • The Second Ideal: “I will protect those who cannot protect themselves.”

  • The Third Ideal: “I will protect even those I do not like, so long as it is right.”

  •  The Fourt Ideal: "I accept that there will be those I cannot protect”

This will be a community of trial lawyers that strive for heroism, both in the courtroom and in life.  Warriors who choose the right path even when it is difficult, even when it costs us.  Recognizing that we cannot be great trial lawyers for our clients if we aren’t striving to be excellent parents, kind daughters and sons, loyal spouses, dutiful friends, and uplifting and inspiring to the people we work with.  Not to mix metaphors, by a Vince Lombardi quote hangs on my office wall and has long guided me:

Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while,  you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit.

This is not an exclusive listserv. All fellow plaintiff lawyers are welcome.  And never will be a fee. Spread the word.
